Think back to when you were a little girl. How fun was it to sneak into your moms closet and try on her dresses and jewelry? Did you love to watch her put on her makeup and do her hair? In a lot of ways, and as much as we try to deny it at times, we are our mother’s children. We loved to dress up and play with our pretend makeup and try to be real grown ups. Now we got our wish. We are grown ups. Roles have reversed and sometimes we’ll catch ourselves looking at children and wishing we could go back if just for a day. Times were simple. We colored and we played hopscotch. The most access we had to computers was at school playing Oregon Trail. Other than that, most households didn’t even have a computer. We used our imagination and we made our own fun.
Do you remember the game “Pretty Pretty Princess” from when you were a child? Did you ever play it? Sometimes we didn’t play the game at all and just took turns dressing pretty and wearing the jewelry . That was the perfect little girls fantasy game. We really believed that we were real princesses.
The point is, even though we are a bit older, we can still feel like princesses. Spring is all around us. Flowers are blooming and color is coming back into our gray world. Toss out the old raggity sweat pants and sweat shirts. Actually, I take that back. The old sweatshirts are like our security blankets. Don’t throw them away. Put them n a special place in one of your back drawers and pull them out during “that time of the month”. You are allowed. Now, back to what I was saying about feeling like a princess…
